Jack
Middle-aged spirit of the group. Has gone through 106 living cycles, and has a feeling general acceptance of the rules, despite disapproving of their nature. Received the 'Jack of Hearts.' 'The grudgingly accepting one.'Later gets a 'black ace of hearts.'
Ace
The new spirit, just having one life, and is curious about the workings and rules of the afterlife. Named 'ace' because it received the 'Ace of Clubs' as its card. 'The curious one.' Later gets a 'red nine of spades.'
Nine
Ancient spirit, jaded about the entire 'afterlife' gig. Claimed the first life it had was when humans were not yet evolved, and lived as a slug. Mentions that its living self must be an asshole, since a lot of spirits seem distrustful of it from living dealings (although Jack mentioned he didn't feel so). Received the 'Nine of Spades.' Mentions it had the card twice before. 'The knowledgeable one.' Later gets a 'jack of clubs.'

Jack’s satisfaction didn’t last for long, however, as Nine hastily reached out and grabbed Jack’s Card and ripped it cleanly in half before returning it to its owner, a smug look on its face. “Oops, look what I did. Misery loves company, see there? See there? What are you going to do about it, huh? Are you going to cry?” - Me, Nine

Mistakes and Inconsistancies
I probably stuck in a 'he' in there instead of the generic 'it' for the spirits.
Misc and Trivia
Cards
I got he basic idea from my ethics class. To simulate fair decision making and the 'veil of ignorance', the professor handed out a card, face down, to each of us. We either had to decide to pick a random number, and the four people with a card of that number would get five extra bonus points, and everyone else get one. Or, we could decide to just let everyone have two bonus points. Whatever the class chose, not knowing what we had, would be a fair decision. I was amused by the idea of making all your decisions about what is fair, not knowing it that decision will later effect you.

It's actually 'Vince Houston and the Microcosmic Fever.' Claudian is Jack, waiting for stuff to happen. Vince is Ace, going out and being a curious twat. (Unknown name!) is Nine, feeling like she knows everything, and wondering if it ends.
